Ira mentioned in the MFP Alerts BOF that this has been modeled as an interface by other groups. An Interface group also has been included within the Counters MIB. What information is required to adequately model a Fax Modem? b) MFP Alert Objects: Xerox (Thomas Silver) has indicated they would like to make a proposal on this subject. It has been noted that the generation of even a small number of objects will certainly be a much more significant undertaking than the other task. However, we should carefully examine the benefit of additional objects and, if the value is significant, they will be added. c) Service: From the minutes of the last teleconference; "It was also noted that to properly define alerts, services as well as physical entities are needed". There appears to also be a counter argument. We need to obtain a "rough" consensus on this issue and then take the appropriate action. Call for Objections

PWG/CIM Printing Classes Realignment Documents

The Printer Working Gr= oup has entered into an alliance with the DMTF=AE to update and correct the documentation of  printing related classes in the DMTF Com= mon Information Model (CIM). This activity has proceeded with the approac= h of first identifying and providing a DMTF change request for the Printe= r Class document, CI= M_Printer.mof. Other Printing related-class documents will be addr= essed subsequently.

The PWG CIM Printing R= efresh v1.0 (1= 6 March 2006) document at ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wims/w= d/wd-wimscimprint10-20060316.htm

is an explanatory text= identifying the problem areas in the CIM Printer class document and defi= ning appropriate changes. The document at ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wi= ms/wd/CIMCoreNNNNN.000-20060322.htm

is a draft of the Chan= ge Request (CR)to be submitted to DMTF for changes to be made to the CIM_Printer.mof i= n CIMv2.11. Note that content of the changes is completely defined in the= PWG CIM Printing Refresh text; the CR is a DMTF document to be submitted= to the DMTF CIM CORE group for review and approval prior to update of th= e CIM_Printer.mof

This Call for Objectio= ns announcement is to alert PWG members of the changes that the PWG is re= questing to CIM_Prin= ter.mof, as well as to provide background for these changes, and t= o ensure that the PWG membership has the opportunity to voice objections = to the requested changes. The Call for Objections will be open until the = start of the CIM session at the PWG face-to-face meeting on Wednesday, 4 = April.

Please submit any obje= ctions to the PWG mailing list (pwg@pwg.org),  not to this Announce list. The intent is to discuss and resolve= any objections at the CIM Session of the face-to-face so that the CR can= be submitted to DMTF in a timely manner.

Note that, as this act= ivity proceeds, text describing the required changes to other CIM Printin= g classes will be added to the PWG CIM Printing Refresh document. The com= plete document will be updated to reflect any changes made in the final C= IM CORE-approved CRs, and the document will then be entered into the PWG = review and approval process for an informative document.
