This note is to advise the group of developments surrounding the draft document draft-niccolini-ippm-storetraceroutes. In January, I met with Saverio, Sandra and Juergen at NEC in Heidelberg regarding the state of the draft and its relation to the work going on in the Grid Forum's Network Measurement Working Group (NM-WG). In the NM-WG we have been working toward standard XML-based schemata for exchanging network performance information. One of the key ideas in the current NM-WG schema is to "factor out" metadata from data to reduce the redundant information in repeated exchanges. These ideas seem to map well to the traceroute work and we agreed to apply them, while maintaining name compatibility with the DISMAN MIB. In addition we agreed to investigate a joint standard between the two groups. The chairs of the working groups have been consulted and no one seems to have any issue with it. Obviously there is no formal way to proceed yet, but we will continue to discuss it and/or make it up as we go along. Please let us know if that poses a problem for anyone or if you have any suggestions. regards, martin _______________________________________________ ippm mailing list ippm@ietf.org https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/ippm From ippm-bounces@ietf.org Tue Feb 28 16:32:53 2006 Received: from [127.0.0.1] (helo=stiedprmman1.va.neustar.com) by megatron.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1FEC0t-0002Ch-FK; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 16:04:07 -0500 Received: from [10.91.34.44] (helo=ietf-mx.ietf.org) by megatron.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1FEBpp-0000W8-Ip; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 15:52:41 -0500 Received: from willow.neustar.com ([209.173.53.84]) by ietf-mx.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1FEBnF-0001Yl-RM; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 15:50:02 -0500 Received: from stiedprstage1.ietf.org (stiedprstage1.va.neustar.com [10.31.47.10]) by willow.neustar.com (8.12.8/8.12.8) with ESMTP id k1SKo19W027719 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO); Tue, 28 Feb 2006 20:50:01 GMT Received: from ietf by stiedprstage1.ietf.org with local (Exim 4.43) id 1FEBnF-0000yj-IU; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 15:50:01 -0500 Content-Type: Multipart/Mixed; Boundary="NextPart" Mime-Version: 1.0 To: i-d-announce@ietf.org From: Internet-Drafts@ietf.org Message-Id: Date: Tue, 28 Feb 2006 15:50:01 -0500 X-Spam-Score: 0.3 (/) X-Scan-Signature: 10d3e4e3c32e363f129e380e644649be Cc: ippm@ietf.org Subject: [ippm] I-D ACTION:draft-ietf-ippm-spatial-composition-00.txt X-BeenThere: ippm@ietf.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: IETF IP Performance Metrics Working Group List-Unsubscribe: , List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: ippm-bounces@ietf.org --NextPart A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories. This draft is a work item of the IP Performance Metrics Working Group of the IETF. Title : Spatial Composition of Metrics Author(s) : A. Morton, E. Stephan Filename : draft-ietf-ippm-spatial-composition-00.txt Pages : 23 Date : 2006-2-28 This memo utilizes IPPM metrics that are applicable to both complete paths and sub-paths, and defines relationships to compose a complete path metric from the sub-path metrics with some accuracy w.r.t. the actual metrics. This is called Spatial Composition in RFC 2330. The memo refers to the Framework for Metric Composition, and provides background and motivation for combining metrics to derive others. The descriptions of several composed metrics and statistics follow. A URL for this Internet-Draft is: http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-ippm-spatial-composition-00.txt To remove yourself from the I-D Announcement list, send a message to i-d-announce-request@ietf.org with the word unsubscribe in the body of the message. You can also visit https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/I-D-announce to change your subscription settings. Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the username "anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After logging in, type "cd internet-drafts" and then "get draft-ietf-ippm-spatial-composition-00.txt". A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail. Send a message to: mailserv@ietf.org. In the body type: "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-ippm-spatial-composition-00.txt". NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE" command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with "multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on how to manipulate these messages. Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the Internet-Draft. --NextPart Content-Type: Multipart/Alternative; Boundary="OtherAccess" --OtherAccess Content-Type: Message/External-body; access-type="mail-server"; server="mailserv@ietf.org" Content-Type: text/plain Content-ID: <2006-2-28134357.I-D@ietf.org> ENCODING mime FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-ippm-spatial-composition-00.txt --OtherAccess Content-Type: Message/External-body; name="draft-ietf-ippm-spatial-composition-00.txt"; site="ftp.ietf.org"; access-type="anon-ftp"; directory="internet-drafts" Content-Type: text/plain Content-ID: <2006-2-28134357.I-D@ietf.org> --OtherAccess-- --NextPart Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline _______________________________________________ ippm mailing list ippm@ietf.org https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/ippm --NextPart-- From ippm-bounces@ietf.org Tue Feb 28 22:09:04 2006 Received: from [127.0.0.1] (helo=stiedprmman1.va.neustar.com) by megatron.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1FEHhu-0006ZD-26; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 22:08:54 -0500 Received: from [10.91.34.44] (helo=ietf-mx.ietf.org) by megatron.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1FEHhs-0006SX-01 for ippm@ietf.org; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 22:08:52 -0500 Received: from wyvern.icir.org ([192.150.187.14]) by ietf-mx.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1FEHhq-0000G3-Lb for ippm@ietf.org; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 22:08:51 -0500 Received: from guns.icir.org (adsl-69-222-35-58.dsl.bcvloh.ameritech.net [69.222.35.58]) by wyvern.icir.org (8.12.11/8.12.11) with ESMTP id k2138n9S055332 for ; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 19:08:50 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from mallman@icir.org) Received: from lawyers.icir.org (guns.icir.org [69.222.35.58]) by guns.icir.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B520277ACAA for ; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 22:08:47 -0500 (EST) Received: from lawyers.icir.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by lawyers.icir.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CA1323CA930 for ; Tue, 28 Feb 2006 22:08:04 -0500 (EST) To: ippm@ietf.org From: Mark Allman Organization: ICSI Center for Internet Research (ICIR) Song-of-the-Day: Lucky Ones MIME-Version: 1.0 Date: Tue, 28 Feb 2006 22:08:04 -0500 Message-Id: <20060301030804.CA1323CA930@lawyers.icir.org> X-Spam-Score: 0.1 (/) X-Scan-Signature: e5ba305d0e64821bf3d8bc5d3bb07228 Cc: Subject: [ippm] call for participation: pam 2006 X-BeenThere: ippm@ietf.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: mallman@icir.org List-Id: IETF IP Performance Metrics Working Group List-Unsubscribe: , List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="===============1081323561==" Errors-To: ippm-bounces@ietf.org --===============1081323561== Content-Type: multipart/signed; boundary="=_bOundary"; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature" --=_bOundary Content-Type: text/plain Content-Disposition: inline Just a reminder that PAM 2006 is coming up soon.
