It includes your subscription info and how to use it to change it or unsubscribe from a list. You can visit the URLs to change your membership status or configuration, including unsubscribing, setting digest-style delivery or disabling delivery altogether (e.g., for a vacation), and so on. In addition to the URL interfaces, you can also use email to make such changes. For more info, send a message to the '-request' address of the list (for example, ifmib-request@ietf.org) containing just the word 'help' in the message body, and an email message will be sent to you with instructions. X-BeenThere: ifmib@ietf.org Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit The statement in RFC 2665 refers at the work that was being done at that time (around 1998-99) in the Interfaces MIB (ifmib) WG. The assessment of the editors of the Ethernet-like interfaces MIB was that if a more generic interface test MIB will be defined, there is no need for an Ethernet-specific interface test table. The ifTest table is deprecated in the latest version of the Interfaces MIB successor - RFC 2663. The editor of the Ethernet-like MIB should correct the text referred by Andy in the new revision of the MIB occasioned by the 10GBE support. AFAIK, there is no replacement for ifTest. Actually the definition of ifTest was generic enough for 'strange un-SNMP-like things'. I do not remember all discussions that led to the deprecation of ifTest table, but the lack of implementation reports might have been part of this. I do think that there is a need for such a function. Still, I prefer it to be generic, and not Ethernet-specific. If there is a broader interest, ifmib is IMO the place to (re)-do it.
